Video: Island Shangri-La Hong Kong

Description:

By James Wilkinson in Hong Kong

Business travellers have been booking up rooms in strong numbers at the Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong this year, particularly around the city’s major events.

Speaking exclusively to HM on camera at the property recently, Island Shangri-La General Manager Wolfgang Krueger said the Hong Kong Sevens was a major draw card for small meetings, particularly out of Australia.

Generally speaking, the hotel’s location and amenities have also been winning over corporate travellers in recent years, particularly on the technology front, with the property, like all Shangri-La Hotels worldwide, now offering complimentary in-limousine WiFi.

HM flew to Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific, which flies to the city from Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney on three-class Airbus A330s that feature Business, Premium and Economy. Cathay’s new Business Class, available on all Australian routes, features super-spacious lie-flat seats, powerpoints and USB charging ports and large storage areas and oversized entertainment screens with hundreds of hours’ entertainment on demand. Also expect world-class service and high quality food and wine. Alternatively, for not much more than a full economy airfare, go for Premium, which offers wider seats and a larger pitch, bigger TVs, quality meals and wine, and a glass of bubbly on boarding.
